The Bruins came out strong against Dana Hills High School (Dana Point, Calif.) in their first game of the Santa Barbara Invitational, doubling up the Dolphins by a score of 20-10 on Thursday evening in Southern California.
Brunswick showcased its speed in the first quarter, scoring mostly on counterattacks — and its strong defense, allowing only one goal off a penalty shot. The Bruins extended their lead in the second quarter, scoring four more goals, three of which were assisted by Vilas Sogaard (who had a total of five helpers in the contest). JP Ohl netted five goals to lead the offensive attack.
The second half highlighted the underclassmen, as freshman center Adam Blum led the way with four goals — and five other players found the back of the net.
The Bruins will be back in the pool for their second game of the tournament against JSerra Catholic High School (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) on Friday at 2:00 p.m. PST.
