Walks and Errors Plague Bruins in Defeat

Taft rallied to score the final eight runs of the game in a 14-6 victory over Brunswick on the baseball diamond on Edwards Campus Wednesday afternoon.

Brunswick took a 6-3 lead into the 5th and a 6-5 lead into the 6th, but walks and errors ultimately prevented the Bruins from securing the win.

Jurgis Schmedlen made the start for Brunswick on the mound. He lasted 4.2 innings while surrendering five runs (three earned) on nine hits with a pair of strikeouts. Cole Mascolo threw the next 1.1 innings and gave up two unearned runs on four hits and a walk. The seventh inning was split between Riley Redahan, Reed Hyde, and Miles Walker. Redahan surrendered four runs (three earned) on two hits and two walks, Hyde gave up three more unearned runs on two hits and three walks, and Walker closed it out with a lineout to left field.

Brunswick was limited to just three hits on the day. Aidan Redahan and Schmedlen were good for a single each, while Mascolo slugged a double.

The Bruins (6-8, 4-1) will be on the road on Thursday, traveling to Westport to take on Greens Farms Academy. First pitch is at 4:30 p.m.
