Varsity baseball hosted St. Thomas More on Monday at the King Street campus, falling to the Chancellors by a score of 7-3.
Cole Mascolo made his first start on the mound this season — throwing three innings, giving up five hits and five runs (one earned), and striking out six. Reed Hyde made his Brunswick pitching debut in an inning of work and gave up one run on four walks, while striking out a lone batter. Jurgis Schmedlin came on to pitch the fifth and sixth innings — and surrendered one run on one hit and five walks, while also striking out a trio of Chancellor hitters. Riley Redahan closed out the game, tossing the final inning.
Mascolo and Player Crosby each had a pair of hits at the plate. Aidan Redahan, Adonys Guzman, and Michael Yeager each added a single, while Schmedlin contributed with an RBI double of his own.
The Bruins will have the day off on Tuesday, and will return to action when they travel to Westport on Wednesday to take on the Greens Farms Academy Dragons. First pitch is set for 3:30.
