Leading 4-1 in the third period, Brunswick held off a late rally by visiting Hoosac, as the hosts picked up a 4-3 win on Wednesday in Hartong Rink. The Bruins, ranked eighth in the latest USHR.com weekly poll, improve to 13-4-2, while the Owls fall to 2-14-2.
Jude Brower had a hand in each of Brunswick’s four goals, as the defenseman now has 14 assists on the season.
The Bruins’ Andon Cerbone netted the lone goal in the first period with an even-strength marker.
In the opening seconds of the second period, the Owls notched the equalizing tally.
In a 1-1 contest, Brunswick closed out the second stanza with three unanswered goals to build a commanding 4-1 lead. Following power-play goals by Matthew McGroarty and Jakub Teply, Henry Foster wrapped up the scoring with an even-strength marker with just over a minute left in the frame.
The visitors closed the gap to 4-2 in the opening minutes of the third period with a goal. The Owls later added a power-play tally with under two minutes remaining, cutting the once comfortable three-goal Brunswick lead to one.
Hoosac added an extra skater for one final push to tie the game in the closing 90 seconds of play. The visitors, dressing just 13 players for the game, were denied a chance for overtime, as the Bruins held on for the 4-3 win.
