Salisbury, ranked third in the latest USHR.com prep hockey poll, bested Brunswick, ranked eighth in the same poll, by a 4-2 margin on Friday night in Hartong Rink. The setback halts a five-game winning streak for the Bruins (11-4-1), as the Crimson Knights improve to 9-1-1.
Salisbury opened the game with an in-close goal after gathering a loose puck near the Brunswick blue line in the opening minutes of the contest.
Moments after the ensuing face-off, Brunswick’s Beanie Richter netted the equalizer with a doorstep wrister, tying the contest at 1-1.
Later in the first period, the visitors responded with a give-and-go tally to take a 2-1 lead with 12:10 on the clock.
Brunswick capped the first-period scoring at 2-2, as Henry Foster deposited a power-play goal with 3:42 remaining.
Salisbury pulled away from the Bruins in the second period with a pair of tallies to take a 4-2 advantage. Following an even-strength goal with 15:22 remaining, the Crimson Knights added a power-play marker during a penalty-marred second half of the second stanza for both teams.
Neither team lit the lamp in the third period, as Salisbury skated away with the 4-2 victory.
