National Record Falls at Swim Meet

Brunswick rolled past Loomis Chaffee on Wednesday, 106-75, setting several new records including a new national time in the 400-meter freestyle relay. The Bruins won every individual swimming event, breaking two New England records and posting four NISCA All-American times in the Loomis Chaffee pool.

 

In the 400M freestyle relay, the quartet of Marcus Hodgson, Lucas Hodgson, Michael O’Malley and Alex Hazlett finished in 3:26.41, setting a new national record. The Bruins broke the 11-year old mark by 0.47 seconds. Additionally, the time breaks the New England record and is an automatic All-American time.

 

Max Meissner, Hazlett, Marcus Hodgson and Lucas Hodgson won the 200-medley relay with an automatic All-American time of 1:43.35.

 

In the 200-freestyle relay, Marcus Hodgson, Hazlett, Lucas Hodgson, and O’Malley finished in 1:34.15, breaking the New England record and earning an All-American time. Marcus Hodgson led off with an All-American time of 23.06. The group missed the national mark by 0.7 seconds.

 

Marcus Hodgson’s four All-American times gives the Brunswick swimmer a total of 14 All-American times overall, while Hazlett’s three AA swims bumps the sophomore’s total to five.
