Three Bruins Sign NCAA National Letters of Intent

In recognition of their athletic prowess, three senior Brunswick student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) on Wednesday. In return for athletic-scholarship aid, the trio are committing to play for their respective NCAA Division I school.

Luca Errico is headed to the University of Virginia to wrestle. Brody Firestein selected Penn State University for lacrosse, while teammate Liam Fairback decided on Colgate University. All three signees are captains of their sport at Brunswick.

Errico, from Armonk, N.Y., heads into his third campaign on the Brunswick wrestling mats. Led by longtime wrestling coach Tim Ostrye, Errico posted a breakout season a year ago with a remarkable record of 48-2. Wrestling at 132-pounds, Errico rolled through the regional competition with an unblemished 44-0 mark to earn a spot in the Prep Nationals in Pennsylvania. Errico won six tournaments, including the top spot in the FAA and the WNEISWA, while winning the New England title (NEISWA). At the Prep Nationals, Errico finished fifth in his weight class and was named an All-American.

Firestein, a four-year member of the lacrosse team started every game for the 16-2 Bruins, coached by David Bruce. Last season, Firestein netted 13 goals and dished out six assists for Brunswick, as the Bruins finished 10th in the final Inside Lacrosse/UnderArmour national poll. Firestein netted two goals in three different games last season. The Larchmont, N.Y., resident collected 20 goals and nine assists as a midfielder over the first three seasons at Brunswick.

In the first season wearing a Brunswick lacrosse jersey last spring, Fairback started every game for the Bruins. Fairback, from Pelham Manor, N.Y., netted 22 goals and handed out 13 assists in 2019. The midfielder totaled a personal-best five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in a win over Choate. Additionally, Fairback played offense, defense and special-teams for the Brunswick football squad for two seasons, as the Bruins earned NEPSAC Championship Bowl berths each year. As a junior, Fairback led the team in interceptions with seven.
