Football Wins Regular-Season Finale, Earns NEPSAC Bowl Bid

Brunswick wrapped up its regular season schedule on Saturday with an impressive road victory over league foe Williston Northampton, 48-7. The Bruins (7-2, 5-1) finished second in the Ericson League and qualified for the NEPSAC's Todd Marble Bowl and will play Governor's Academy on Saturday, November 16 at Wilbraham & Monson Academy.
 
Brunswick’s Jalen Madison led the way for the Bruins offense with a personal-best five touchdowns on the ground, as the running back totaled 219 yards on 28 carries.
 
A 65-yard interception return by Colin Mulshine set-up Madison’s first touchdown from five-yards out, as the Bruins took a 7-0 lead with 3:40 left in the first quarter.
 
Williston (2-6, 1-6) scored its lone touchdown as time expired in the first quarter, tying the contest at 7-7.
 
In the second quarter, Kevonne Wilder intercepted a Wildcat pass on the Brunswick 26-yard line. Nine plays later, Madison plunged in from the one-yard line to give the Bruins a 14-7 lead with 6:59 left in the half.
 
Brunswick added another first-half touchdown, as Madison weaved in from 15-yards out to give the visitors a 20-7 lead heading into halftime.
 
On the Bruins’ first play from scrimmage in the third quarter, Madison ripped off the longest run of the day, galloping 58 yards to pay dirt, giving Brunswick a commanding 27-7 lead at 9:33 of the third quarter.
 
Alex Burdick collected the Bruins third interception of the day to halt the next Williston drive. The Brunswick offense capitalized, as Madison capped a five-play 36-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run at the 7:46 mark of the third quarter.
 
Charlie Johnson nabbed the fourth and final interception for the Brunswick defense on the following Wildcat drive, giving the Bruins the ball on Williston’s 37. Kevonne Wilder capped the quick, two-play drive with a 15-yard touchdown run, as the Brunswick lead grew to 41-7 with 1:16 left in the third quarter.
 
Late in the fourth quarter, Brunswick’s George Villis’ nine-yard touchdown run capped the scoring.

On the afternoon, Brunswick outgained Williston 402-179. The Bruins rushed for 316 yards, while limiting the Wildcats to minus-four yards on the ground.
