Soccer Picks Up Road Win

Brunswick’s Kyle Raker netted a pair of goals in a 5-2 road win over Millbrook on Wednesday, as the Bruins improve to 9-5-1 on the season. It was the fourth time this year that Raker, the team-leader in goals with 11, netted multiple markers in a game.
 
Raker opened the scoring in the sixth minute of action, weaving through the Millbrook defense and depositing a scoring shot in the bottom left corner.
 
Three minutes later, Brunswick teammates Anthony Deosa and Michael Huber combined near midfield and played a ball to Raker in the corner of the Millbrook 18. As Raker moved the ball in close to the Millbrook goal, a Mustang defender redirected the ball into the Millbrook net, giving the Bruins a 2-0 advantage.
 
The Bruins made it a 3-0 contest later in the first half, as Michael Huber finished a give-and-go with Raker in the 38th minute of play. The tally was Huber’s second goal of the season.
 
The Bruins scored two more goals in the second half to build a commanding 5-0 lead. Henry Foster finished a penalty kick in the 60th minute for. For Henry Foster, it was the fifth-straight game with a PK tally. Gavin Foster’s one-timer from Raker capped the Brunswick scoring in the 69th minute.
 
Millbrook responded with a pair of goals in the later stages of the contest. A free-kick marker by the Mustangs found the back of the net in the 77th minute of action, as the final tally came in the 85th minute for the 5-2 final.
 
Brunswick goalie Eric Meindl made five saves in the contest.
