Water Polo Halted on Homecoming

Brunswick fell to Greenwich H.S. on Friday night inside the Mehra Natatorium, dropping a 10-8 decision to its crosstown foes. The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for the Bruins over the Cardinals dating back to October 15, 2016.

 

Brunswick trailed 3-0 in the first quarter before Gavin West (five goals) got Brunswick on the board with under a minute in the opening frame.

 

The Cardinals outscored the Bruins by a 5-3 margin in the second quarter, as the visitors took an 8-4 lead at the break. West netted two goals and Jake Charney and Danny Taylor added solo markers for the Bruins.

 

In the third quarter, the Bruins made it a two-goal game by the 3:41 mark, as Gavin Molloy and West netted tallies for the hosts to cut the deficit to 8-6. However, Brunswick could not get any closer, as the visitors swam away with the 10-8 win. Kyle Yelensky netted the final tally for the Bruins in the fourth quarter.
