Brunswick fell to visiting Avon Old Farms on Wednesday, 4-2. The loss drops the Bruins to 1-3-1 on the season.
The visitors netted a pair of goals in the first half to build a 2-0 lead, but the Bruins countered with a tally with a minute before the half. On the Brunswick scoring play, a long throw-in by Omeed Pooya sent the ball into the Winged Beavers' zone. After the ball bounced off an Avon player, Ryan Chinai collected the ball just outside of the 18. Chinai created some space and booted a bending shot inside the left post for the goal.
Leading 2-1 in the second half, the Winged Beavers (3-2-1) netted an insurance goal at the 60th minute.
The Bruins countered with a goal in the 72nd minute, trimming the deficit to 3-2. Nico Montoni took the ball off the foot of the Avon goalie and sent a grounder into the net.
Ten minutes later, the visitors added the final goal of the contest.
Brunswick goalie Eric Meindl played the first 70 minutes, making five stops, as reserve keeper Andrew Breckenridge took over for the final 20 minutes, making one save. The Bruins were outshot 8-4 in the contest.
Brunswick returns to action with a road contest at Gunnery on Saturday, September 28.
