Tennis Wins FAA Team Title, Evan Lee Takes Singles Crown
Following an unbeaten run in regular-season FAA play, Brunswick picked up another league accolade by winning the 2019 FAA Team Tournament on Tuesday.
Each of the seven FAA teams sent two entries in both the singles and doubles draw. Each match was determined by a single pro-set, first to win eight games.
Evan Lee, the sixth-seed, won the singles draw, knocking off the #1, #2, and #4 seeds in the process. Brunswick's other entry in singles, #3 Ben Powis, reached the semifinals before bowing out.
In doubles, both Brunswick tandems advanced to the semifinals. Christian Hartch and Alex Penn fell to the eventual champions from Rye CDS, while Lorenzo Gunningham and Edward Nagler lost to the #1 seed from Greens Farms.
The Bruins qualified for the upcoming NEPSAC Class A Championships, held on May 18-19. Information regarding that event is scheduled to be released on Thursday, May 16.
