Brunswick dropped a non-league home game against Poly Prep on Monday, 10-0. The six-inning loss drops the Bruins' overall record to 10-4.
The 10-run, six-inning setback is the first double-digit loss for Brunswick since a 13-2 defeat by Hopkins on May 9, 2017.
The Blue Devils (14-2) chased starting pitcher Cole Mascolo (1-1) after 1.2 innings, as the visitors scoring nine runs, all earned, off the Bruins’ hurler. Reliever Luke Fisher allowed a run over 3.1 innings, as Poly Prep built a 10-0 lead.
Josh Feldman pitched a scoreless sixth inning, as the contest ended early due to the 10-run score differential.
Brunswick collected three hits, as Feldman, Leo Socci and Nick Giannuzzi each had a single.
The Bruins return to action against FAA foe Hopkins on Tuesday, May 7, as the two teams are separated by one game with two FAA contests remaining to determine the regular-season champion. Brunswick, with an earlier loss to Hopkins this year, holds an 8-2 league mark, while the Hilltoppers sit at 9-1.
