Baseball Rolls Over King

Brunswick picked up an impressive 14-2 road victory over King on Friday. The FAA win boosts the Bruins’ league record to 7-2, while their overall mark stands at 9-3. As a team, Brunswick collected 13 hits, while the Vikings committed six errors that led to five unearned runs.
 
Leading 1-0, Brunswick blew the game wide open with six runs in the fourth inning. Ten batters went to the plate in the frame, as Cole Mascolo drove in a run with a double, while Leo Socci and Jake Hyde added RBI singles.
 
The Bruins expanded their lead to 10-0 in the sixth inning, as Marc McGuire and Jack Mathews hit back-to-back RBI singles with two outs. Mascolo followed with an RBI double for the double-digit lead over King.
 
The Vikings countered with a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth off Socci, Brunswick’s starting pitcher.
 
The Bruins added four more runs in the top of the seventh, as Mascolo relieved Socci in the bottom of the frame to seal the 14-2 win.
 
Hyde picked up three hits including a double and two RBI to lead the Bruins, as Mascolo collected two doubles and a pair of RBI for the Bruins. Mathews chipped in with two hits and two RBI, as Aidan Redahan had a pair of hit and one RBI, while Luke Fisher had a double.
 
Socci (3-0) earned the win, tossing six innings and collected 10 strikeouts. This is the third-straight game Socci posted double-digit strikeout totals (11, 10, 10). Mascolo pitched one inning of scoreless relief for the Bruins.
