Track Takes Second at Inaugural FAA Championships

Brunswick finished second at the first-ever FAA Track and Field Championships, held at Masters on Wednesday. The Bruins collected 132 team points, as Rye CDS won the overall team title with 207 points.

 

Highlighting some great performances was George Varvel’s school-record triple jump leap (42’ 9”). The record-setting jump was Varvel’s first competitive attempt in the event. Additionally, Varvel finished second in the long jump with a personal-record (PR) bound of 19’ 11.5”.

 

Four more Bruins picked up first-place results in field events, as PR’s were set by Harry Barringer in the javelin (143’ 2”) and Kevonne Wilder in the long jump (20’ 11”). Jack Withstandley won the discus throw (91’ 11”) and Tristan Joseph took first in the high jump (5' 8"). 

 

On the track, Joseph set a PR with a second-place finish 110-hurdles (0:18.98), while the 4x400 team (Withstandley, Harry Kilberg, Jason Agudelo, and Jack Michalik) finished second with a season-best time of 3:43.34.
