Leading 10-9 to start the fourth quarter against Choate, Brunswick scored all five goals of the frame to secure a 15-9 road victory over the Wild Boars. The league win sets the Bruins’ overall record at 11-1 and 6-0 in NEW-1 conference play.
Brunswick, ranked seventh in the latest Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse national poll, opened the road game with four first-quarter goals, including a pair from Coulter Mackesy.
Choate countered with a five-goal run to take a 5-4 lead by the 7:06 mark of the second quarter.
The Bruins responded with a three-goal spurt to take a 7-5 lead in the second quarter, before the Wild Boars capped the first half with a tally at 1:30.
In the third quarter, the hosts tied the game at 7-7 at the 9:28 mark. Following a Brunswick goal by Lucas Delgado, Brody Firestein tallied a long-distance bouncer at 6:17 to give the Bruins a 9-7 lead. Choate capped the third quarter by bookending tallies around a Liam Fairback goal, as Brunswick took a 10-9 lead into the final frame.
In the decisive fourth quarter, five different Bruins netted a goal to complete the 15-9 finish. Fairback assisted on the first goal by Mackesy and Fairback netted the next score off a Christian Ronda helper at 9:20. Following AJ Delgado’s doorstep tally at 8:18, Michael Gottlieb’s goal made it a 14-9 contest with 6:40 left to play. Cooper Moore finished the five-goal run with a tally at 5:05.
