Lacrosse Sets Season-High Scoring Mark in Win

Brunswick built an impressive 12-1 halftime lead over Taft, as the Bruins cruised to a 16-5 conference win on Cosby Field on Wednesday. Brunswick, ranked ninth in the nation, improve to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in NEW1 play.

 

Six different Bruins scored in the first quarter, as Ian Murray scored the first goal just 13 seconds after the opening face-off. Christian Ronda set-up three goals in the first frame, as Coulter Mackesy scored once and assisted on another.

 

Leading 6-1 in the second quarter, Ronda added three more helpers during another 6-0 run as Brunswick took a 12-1 lead into the break. For the game, Ronda passed out a season-high eight assists.

 

Taft opened the third quarter with a man-down goal, as Luke Waters responded with a tally at the 7:10 mark for Brunswick. After the Rhinos followed with a man-up goal at 5:40, Coulter Mackesy netted his third goal for the Bruins to close out the frame.

 

Leading 14-3, Liam Fairback notched his own hat-trick with a fourth quarter tally, as Taft added back-to-back markers. Bernard Zoungrana’s first goal of the season capped the scoring for the Bruins.

 

Brunswick staring goalie Christian Barnard made seven saves in three quarters of action, while Will Prout made a season-best eight saves in the final frame. Edward Glassmeyer led the Bruins with five groundballs.

 

The 16 goals by Brunswick were a season-high, eclipsing a 13-goal performance against William Penn Charter back on March 22.
