Ninth-Ranked Bruins Beat Loomis Chaffee

Brunswick broke an early 1-1 tie against Loomis Chaffee with a seven-goal run en route to an 11-6 conference win on Saturday. The road win boosts the Bruins, ranked ninth nationally, to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in NEW1 conference action, while the setback drops the Pelicans to 5-2 on the season and 0-2 in league play.

In a 1-1 contest in the first quarter, Brunswick went on its decisive seven-goal run. Seven different Bruins scored during the burst, as Christian Ronda scored a goal and set up two more tallies during the run.

Trailing 8-1 in the second quarter, Loomis Chaffee netted three-straight goals, before Ronda capped the first half scoring off an assist from Luke Waters.

In the third quarter, the Pelicans scored two more goals, cutting the Brunswick lead to 9-6 with 2:33 left in the frame. At the 1:04 mark, Ronda slowed the home team’s comeback with his third goal of the game. Ronda’s hat-trick tally gave the Bruins a 10-6 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The lone goal of the fourth quarter was an insurance tally by Brunswick’s Michael Mauricio at 2:34, as the Bruins picked up the 11-6 win.

The Bruins return to action on Wednesday, April 10, with a home game against Taft.
