Swimmers Win FAA Title

Brunswick won its second-straight FAA title on Saturday at Hopkins. The Bruins collected 399 team points, outdistancing second-place Hopkins by 102 points. Brunswick wraps up the season at the two-day New England Championships, held at Deerfield starting on Saturday, March 2.

With the FAA format allowing two relays and three individuals per event, excellent team depth helped the Bruins win the title.

The meet started with the 200-medley relay, as Brunswick placed second in the A-Final and won the B-Final.

The Bruins won the next three individual events: 200-free, 200-IM and 50-free.

In the 200-free, Cole Pierce won the event, as Alex Morgan was fourth and Felipe Leao finished sixth.

Marcus Hodgson won the 200-IM, while his brother and teammate Lucas Hodgson was second and Jack Moore came in fourth place.

The Bruins posted a 1-3-4 finish in the 50-free. Christian Farricker won the event, while Ivey Gehring was third and Jake Charney finished fourth.

Brunswick collected more team points with multiple podium finishes in the next three individual events.

In the 100-fly, Keegan Drew and Jack Moore finished in second and third, respectively, as Nico Apostolides placed fifth.

Ivey Gehring, Luke Apostolides, and Jake Charney followed with a 4-5-6 result in the 100-free.

In the 500-free, Michael O'Malley was second and Leao third, as Will Morton came in fifth place.

Later, Brunswick won both the A-Final and B-Final in the 200-free relay, padding its lead over the other FAA foes.

In the 100-back, Lucas Hodgson posted a remarkable comeback win, touching the wall .26 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Hamden Hall. Adding points for Brunswick were JP Ohl (fifth) and Pierce (sixth).

The Bruins kept their podium streak alive with three top-five finishers in the last individual event of the day. Jackson Walker and Gavin Molloy finished second and third, respectively, as Ned Camel placed fifth in the 100-breast.

In the final event of the day, Brunswick won both the A-Final and B-Final in the 400-free relay.
