Hockey Finishes Season

Brunswick wrapped up the 2018-19 hockey season with an 8-2 defeat at Trinity-Pawling on Friday night. The Bruins finish with an overall mark of 11-13-4 and 8-12-4 in NEPSIHA action. Brunswick did not qualify for NEPSIHA post-season play this season, halting an impressive string of four-straight appearances.

 

In the penalty-filled finale, Trinity-Pawling broke open a 1-1 first period contest with five-straight goals for a 6-1 lead early in the second period. Brunswick’s Charles Shaffer scored the lone tally for the visitors.

 

Shaffer made it a 6-2 game, netting his team-leading 17^th tally with 11:33 remaining in the second period.

 

The Pride answered with a late goal in the second period as well as the final goal in the final frame for the 8-2 finish.

 

Shaffer, the team captain, set career highs in scoring this year and also led the Bruins in goals (17), assists (25), and points (42).

 

Seven other Bruins also finish their Brunswick careers on Friday, including three alternate captains Cooper Moore (13 G, 18 A), Aaron Aboodi (2 G, 8 A), and goalie Dan Dachille. Joining the captain quartet are senior forwards Andy McBurney (1 G, 1 A), Edward Glassmeyer (1 G, 2 A), and defenseman Henry Hill (3 G, 7 A).
