Homecoming 2024 Set for October 18 & 19

October has arrived, which can only mean one thing: Homecoming is coming up fast!

Jam-packed with activities for all ages, Homecoming is a Brunswick tradition that features alumni who return to Greenwich reminisce and reconnect, a special carnival geared specifically to ’Wick’s youngest, and, of course, thrilling athletic contests including the big football game on Saturday afternoon.

“We look forward to welcoming alumni of all ages for Homecoming, especially those from classes ending in four and nine celebrating their reunions,” said Zach Dobbs '06, director of alumni relations. “With an exciting slate of events planned, including traditional offerings like the Friday golf outing and alumni party during Saturday afternoon's football game, it promises to be a special weekend for all.

“This is our sixth year at GlenArbor for the golf outing — thanks to Morgan Gregory '92,” Dobbs added.

Each year, the Alumni Golf Outing serves as the unofficial kick-off to the weekend, as alumni will tee off at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at the beautiful GlenArbor Golf Club in Bedford Hills, N.Y.

Later in the day, Homecoming kicks off “for real” as varsity soccer meets St. Luke’s on Robert L. Cosby Field on Edwards Campus. The game starts at 5 p.m.; an alumni tailgate will feature burgers and no shortage of camaraderie for gathering alumni and families. Following the game, fireworks will light up the sky and herald the opening of Homecoming 2024.

Saturday features activities for everyone. The 6th annual Horizons Cars & Coffee event in front of the Lower School runs from 9 to 11 a.m. Bear Fair, the can’t-miss carnival of the fall for Pre and Lower School boys and their families, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Burke Field House.

“So many little pieces of the puzzle have to be put in place before the big day, but we've been really fortunate thus far to have parents happily aiding us, especially when it came to distributing our awesome Bear Fair merchandise,” said Jane Lambert P ’33, who is chairing this year’s Fair along with Jill Carmichael P ’34, ’36, ’37.

Also on Saturday:

  • For alumni, a tour of Pettengill Campus, 116 Maple Ave., runs from noon to 1, while a tour of the new Lake Avenue Campus, 270 Lake Ave., is set for 1 to 2 p.m.
  • The Alumni Pavilion Party gets underway at 2 p.m. alongside Robert L. Cosby Field — in anticipation of varsity football’s battle against Andover at 3 p.m.

Just as it does every year, Homecoming 2024 promises to be a weekend of fun and connection for the entire ’Wick community.
