'Wick Football Players Named to All-Conference Teams
After a successful first season as a member of the Northeast Prep Football Conference, Brunswick (7-3) placed a number of players on All-League teams.
Senior defensive back Charlie Johnson — who racked up 108 total tackles, 49 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, one touchdown, and one fumble recovery — was joined on the first-team defense by classmate Hunter Clark, whose statistical line included 92 total tackles, 45 solo tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery.
Senior Kha’lil Eason also earned first-team honors on offense, as the running back/wide receiver was all over the field for the Bruins — with 95 carries for 556 yards and nine touchdowns, 27 receptions for 329 yards and six touchdowns, 13 kickoff returns for 428 yards and one touchdown, and 1,313 all-purpose yards.
Senior offensive lineman Michael Burton and junior Will Janis were named to the first-team offense, while fellow lineman Miles Walker (second team) and Cliff Belknap (honorable mention) were also recognized.
The group paved the way for a strong ’Wick run game this year, as the team rushed for over 1700 yards and 20 touchdowns. They also protected the quarterback in the passing game, giving up only two sacks on almost 200 dropbacks.
Also earning second-team offensive accolades were quarterback Danny Lauter, who threw for 1607 yards and 16 passing touchdowns, also rushing for 250 yards and three touchdowns; wide receiver Ashton Winegardner, who had 33 catches for 607 yards and five touchdowns; and running back Chris Gaine, who totaled 105 carries for 680 yards and eight touchdowns, along with 12 receptions for 140 yards.
