MIDDLE SCHOOL

Welcome to Brunswick School’s Summer Sessions for Middle School students! Offerings for students entering grades 5-8 are co-educational and run from June 13 - July 1 for Session I, and July 11 - July 29 for Session II. Preparatory and enrichment classes are available in Math, English, Computer Science, and the Arts. Please see each course description for additional details, timing and dates. Registration is open to the public, and as class sizes are limited, enrollment will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

For students also enrolling in one of the Brunswick Sports Camps offerings in the afternoon, lunch will be provided.

Course Description: In Math 6, students will reinforce foundational math concepts introduced in fifth grade while also projecting forward to new concepts soon to be introduced in math. Students will be shown how to make these mathematical concepts tangible and relatable to their everyday lives. Topics covered will include exponent rules, variables, graphing, introduction to factoring, strategizing word problems, and more. Finally, students will be challenged to solve fun, large math equations as an exercise to think big and beyond their own limitations in mathematics. Math will be made tangible and fun.

Students will explore a range of writing styles by famous and influential authors. The final original piece from each student will range from a poem, to a short story, an original song, to an analytical essay; the sky is truly the limit for a young and inspired writer! And yes, we will pay attention to grammatical and punctuation rules along the way.
