Unfortunately Camp Bearlock has reached it's capacity for the summer of 2020.
WELCOME TO CAMP BEARLOCK! Brunswick School’s Day Camp is designed to provide fun and engaging activities for boys and girls entering grades 1-4. This two-week full-day program will feature swimming, athletics, STEM, artistic expression, and daily Camp Adventures.
SWIMMING: All Bearlock campers will receive a daily swim in the Brunswick Natatorium! At the start of camp, children will be swim tested and leveled, with pool time being divided into lessons and free swim. Our swim instruction aims to instill confidence in tentative swimmers and provides a safe and comfortable environment for all swimmers to practice and play. Small
group instruction allows for flexible leveling and individualized attention in a stress-free environment.
ARTISTIC EXPRESSION: will include traditional camp art such as painting, beading, and working with clay. Campers will also participate in dramatic play including the recording of informative, educational film shorts. Projects are designed to instill confidence and the “willingness to try,” as well as build upon a camper’s ability to work well with others. Art and design are often woven into the completion of ongoing STEM projects.
ATHLETICS AND MOVEMENT: will focus on exposing campers to a variety of basic athletic skills through a physical education lens. Coordination and movement will be emphasized as well as the importance of sportsmanship. It is healthy for all campers to get outside and run around during the summer months!
CAMP ADVENTURES will include various activities such as science and nature expeditions, field trips to local nature centers, camp-fire stories, scavenger hunts, and team-building exercises. Campers love this aspect of Bearlock!
Our STEM component: will expose campers to activities in which they build, create, and problem-solve using a variety of engineering tools and media. Campers will have ample opportunities to study the local environment, conduct experiments, and investigate microscopic
organisms. The science component of Bearlock informs all other aspects of the program and provides a framework for both Art and Camp Adventures. Builders, experimenters, and naturalists will love it.
ENROLLMENT: Campers will spend much of the time as a large group, but will be placed in smaller groups and age appropriate partnerships depending on the activity and total camp enrollment. Birthdays and completed academic grades will be taken into consideration, however, students should be rising 1st grade to rising 4th grade. Campers may enroll for 1 or 2 weeks.
