Libraries

The Pre School Library welcomes Brunswick's youngest students to a world of story, imagination, and discovery. Through a language-rich program of songs, stories, nursery rhymes, puppets, and props, reading readiness is supported, and boys are introduced to the very best in children's literature. In Kindergarten, students follow an age appropriate curriculum, learning the basics of book care, how to tell an information book from a story, and how to recognize helpful features of non-fiction titles such as “table of contents” and “captions.” The library is also a resource for Pre School faculty and parents. Collection development reflects and supports the Lower School curriculum.

The Lower School library program consists of many parts: Early-morning library, weekly library classes for every grade level, and special events including author/illustrator visits. Students learn how to locate, evaluate and use information from online and printed sources, explore the genres of literature, and learn to use their imagination to focus on the big questions of life. The library provides a quiet space in each boy's busy life and offers our students the opportunity to explore any type of book that interests them. In the library, Lower School boys learn to select and critique books so that they can expand their worlds. Our library is a sanctuary of imaginary space, where boys begin the process of lifelong, independent learning.

The Middle School Library is the central hub of the Brunswick Middle School. The library serves grades five through eight, and its mission is to support the Middle School curriculum, teach research skills to the fifth grade, and foster a lifelong love of reading.

The Berkley Library serves as a central area for study, collaboration, and learning for grades nine through twelve. The collection includes more than 14,000 volumes and access to millions more through electronic and digital means. The library provides countless resources for students and is the cornerstone of the Brunswick educational experience.
