Started in 1952 by faculty member James Brown, a U.S. National Team member and Manchester United player in the 1930s, the team has progressed from playing local schools to competing against the top NEPSAC Class "A" powers. In 2010 and 2016, the team earned bids to the New England Championship Tournament.

Under Head Coach Danny Simpson, who has led the program for eight years, the Bruins finished with an overall record of 10–7–1 in the highly competitive NEPSSA league in 2024.

Several players have extended their careers collegiately, while other alumni have earned coveted positions on the U.S. National Team as well as becoming professional players in the MLS. Home games are played on Carroll Field at the Upper Middle School campus on King Street. 

Soccer is a popular sport in the Upper School, as Brunswick fields five teams at different levels from varsity to freshman. The Middle School boasts four teams, two apiece at the seventh and eighth grade levels.
