The Brunswick School cross country program is dedicated not only to the growth of the boys' physical fitness, but also to their mental capacities. The coaching staff seeks to develop these talents in conjunction with attributes of discipline, resilience, confidence, and camaraderie, ultimately creating a successful individual and team experience.
For the past quarter century, Brunswick has been led by Head Coach Steve Polikoff. Under his guidance, the team has earned or shared 16 league titles, won two New England Championships, and has a winning percentage of over 90 percent in dual meets. Most recently, in 2024, the Bruins won the FAA Cross Country Championship with four runners placing in the top 10. Four runners claimed All-FAA honors and two runners earned All-New England honors.
A small handful of Bruins have gone on to compete at schools such as Davidson, Emory, Amherst, and Dartmouth. The team operates as one unit, not separated into JV and varsity. Runners train primarily on the track and trails of the Edwards Campus on King Street, as well as on the hills of the surrounding community.
