Wrestlers Compete at Prep Nationals at Lehigh University
Brunswick qualified five wrestlers for the National Prep Wrestling Championships held at Lehigh University this past weekend.
Owen Bartoszek (126 lb.), Patrick O'Donahue (138 lb.), Jack Degl (165 lb.), Nikki Krause (190 lb.), and Michael Marini (285 lb.) all competed.
Each of the Brunswick wrestlers was unseeded entering the tournament. While none of them got on the podium, three Bruins won matches at Nationals. Degl (34-6) earned a 13-7 win by decision over an opponent from The Episcopal School of Dallas (TX) before losing a heartbreaker to an opponent from Fishburne Military School (VA). Krause (22-11) pinned an opponent from Sidwell Friends (MD), and Marini (32-11) pinned an opponent from Saint Frances Academy (MD). O'Donahue (28-9) finished out his Brunswick wrestling career as a three-time National Prep qualifier while Bartoszek (30-11), a sophomore, is already a two-time qualifier.
Brunswick finishes out another successful season with a record of 21-2.
