'Wick Sweeps Season-Opening Series with RCDS

Brunswick opened the 2026 season with back-to-back wins over Rye Country Day School, starting on Monday with a 2–1 road victory and following it up with an 8–3 win at home on Wednesday.

Monday’s opener was a true pitchers’ duel. Johnny Gally got the start for the Bruins, allowing just one run while striking out 10, consistently attacking the strike zone with a full mix of pitches. Julian Dyson provided effective relief over an inning and two-thirds, and Ty Owstrowski closed out the game to earn the save. Offensively, Brunswick capitalized in key moments with two-out hitting: Michael Marini doubled to right field in the fifth inning to tie the game, and Jayden Montanez delivered a game-winning double an inning later, bringing home Nate Cook. Cook and Jack Bylow each recorded two hits to lead the offense.

The Bruins carried that momentum into their home opener on Wednesday, cruising to an 8–3 victory. Teddy Bancroft got the start, allowing three runs over three innings while striking out three. Jackson Cunningham and Reid Glanville each threw a scoreless inning in relief, and Ostrowski sealed the win. Brunswick’s offense came alive, finishing with nine hits and drawing 10 walks. Cook, Andrew Gally, Ostrowski, and Marini each collected two hits, while Jack Nardis and Ostrowski drove in two runs apiece. Montanez and Steven Degree led the team at the plate with three walks each.

Brunswick looks to continue its strong start when it travels to Loomis on Saturday, with Glanville slated to take the mound.
