Middle School Squash Team Captures National Title
Middle School Squash visited Philadelphia this weekend for the 2025 National Team Championships and emerged with a triumphant victory.
Brunswick A Team cruised through the early rounds without dropping a single match, defeating Pingry, Princeton Day, and Calvert to reach Sunday afternoon’s final vs Haverford. Evenly matched on paper, the match promised and delivered excitement.
On the glass court that had been home all weekend, Shaurya Gupta (#2) recorded the first point for Brunswick, coming back from five points down in the third game to win 11-4, 8-11, 12-10, 11-8.
In action simultaneously on Court 5, Matthew Jaroch (#5) was substituting for an ailing Luke Feng. Playing his smartest squash at the right time, he reversed a slow start to take control and emerge on top 2-11, 11-8, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6.
Reed Foley (#4) turned up the heat on his opponent with constant consistent combinations of depth and drops to register the clinching point 11-5, 9-11, 11-4, 11-3.
Only moments later on the glass court, in a rematch from a recent tournament, Reed Goulding (#1) avenged that outcome by treating the crowd to the most impressive squash of the weekend, earning an impressive victory 11-8, 11-9, 11-7.
Finally, with the title in hand, Bucky Veiner (#3) took to the glass court and dropped a well-contested match 5-11, 9-11, 11-13.
It is the eighth time that Brunswick has taken home the Division 1 nationals championships, leading all boys’ schools.
The program’s depth was on display as the B Team won their last match to go .500 on the trip, securing 11th place overall in the field of 53, which placed first among B teams.
