JV1 Soccer Wins FAA Tournament

JV1 Soccer emerged victorious for the third consecutive year at the 2025 JV FAA Tournament, hosted Saturday at Hopkins.

The Bruins opened with a dominant 4–0 win over St. Luke’s and followed with a draw against GCDS to finish first in their group after round-robin play. The second unit provided a spark in the opener, scoring all four goals. Freshman Ben Sweet led the way with two goals (assists from Lucio Costantini and Paul Kesmodel), while freshman Yorman Veliz added one on a Sweet assist, and junior Nate Caballeros netted another from a setup by Dani Marti.

In the Championship Round, Brunswick defeated RCDS 2–0 behind goals from freshman Paul Kesmodel, who volleyed home a corner from Matias Salazar, and junior Reid Glanville, who finished a crisp “tiki-taka” sequence off a feed from Jack Bylow.

The Bruins sealed the title in emphatic fashion with a 6–0 victory over Hopkins. Glanville opened scoring with his 14th goal of the season, followed by tallies from Salazar (assist from Teo Ocana), junior Max Stabinsky on a penalty kick, freshman Botond Vadkerti and junior Owen Day on headers from crosses by Stabinsky and Salazar, and a final goal from freshman goalkeeper Alex Meconiates, who joined the field for the closing minutes and converted a rebound from senior Alec Modi’s shot.

Special recognition goes to goalkeepers Chase Nook and Meconiates, who combined to complete the season with seven straight shutouts.
