Hebert Garners Two Prestigious Awards After Stellar Senior Season

Blake Hebert ’25 capped off an incredible senior season for the Brunswick Bruins (8-2) by receiving two highly esteemed accolades — NEPSAC Class A Player of the Year and Gatorade Connecticut Football Player of the Year.

The standout quarterback was named the NEPSAC Class A Player of the Year, an honor determined by votes from all coaches in New England’s Class A division. Hebert earned this recognition after throwing for 1,589 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also rushing for 625 yards and 11 touchdowns. One NEPSAC coach described Hebert as “a nightmare to play against defensively” and praised his “outstanding character” as key reasons for voting him for the award.

In addition to this honor, Hebert was named the 2024-25 Gatorade Connecticut Football Player of the Year — the most prestigious high school football accolade in the state. This award recognizes a student-athlete’s achievements both on the field and in the classroom, along with his dedication to community service. Hebert now joins an elite list of past winners, including NFL legends like Emmitt Smith, Peyton Manning, and rising star DJ Lagway.

On the field, Hebert’s statistics speak volumes about his athletic success. But it’s his off-the-field contributions that set him apart. He maintains an impressive “A” average in the classroom and actively volunteers with “Lift for Life,” a fundraiser supporting those affected by rare diseases. Additionally, Hebert’s leadership was recognized by his peers and teachers — he served as one of the Bruins’ team captains this season and was selected as a senior peer leader.

Hebert’s achievements continue a legacy of excellence at Brunswick. Former Michigan Wolverine and current Green Bay Packers practice squad member Cornelius Johnson ’19 won the Gatorade Connecticut Football Player of the Year in 2018-19, further underscoring the Bruins’ tradition of developing elite talent.

A Notre Dame signee, Hebert is currently practicing with the Fighting Irish as the team pursues a College Football National Championship.
