Brunswick opened the season Saturday at the 37th Wilton Invitational, placing second in the Prep Division behind Loomis.

Senior captain Armaan Lakhani led the way for Brunswick, winning the race in 16:03. Lakhani was the top finisher among more than 200 competitors across all divisions. He established himself among the lead pack from the start, covering the first mile in 4:57 and remaining among the top three entering the final quarter mile. Lakhani then pulled away with a strong finishing kick, crossing the line more than two seconds ahead of the runner-up.

The rest of the squad also turned in strong performances in its opening meet, including both runners competing in their first high school race and returning veterans who showed the benefits of their summer training.
