Brunswick Stifles Salisbury on Gridiron

The Bruins traveled to Salisbury School on Friday to face the Crimson Knights under the lights, eventually leaving the Hilltop with a 34-14 victory.

Brunswick started its offense with two field goals off the foot of senior Oliver Reynolds, who was three for four on the night. Later in the first quarter, senior quarterback Blake Hebert found sophomore wide receiver Noah Park open in the back of the endzone for a 14-yard touchdown pass – 13-0 Brunswick at the end of the first.

Hebert added to the Bruin lead with two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter – one to open the quarter and one to close out the quarter. His first came on a 10-yard rush that saw Reynolds scoop and score a bad snap on the PAT to tack on the two-point conversion. Hebert ran another one in from seven yards with 35 seconds to play in the half. A successful PAT extended Brunswick's lead to 28-0 after two stanzas.

Hebert and Park connected again for an explosive 69-yard play in the third quarter that put the Bruins up 34-0 headed into the fourth quarter. The Crimson Knights added two fourth quarter touchdowns, but the Bruins were able to hold off their hosts.

The Brunswick defense was stellar all night, once again, thanks to a trio of fumble recoveries, a total of 106 yards surrendered, and one allowed touchdown. The defense took the wind out of the Crimson Knights' sails from the start of the game and never allowed them to gain any momentum.

Brunswick travels to Deerfield Academy for a 3 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
