Brunswick swam away with its 7th consecutive Beast of the East championship title, defeating local rival Greenwich High School 19-9 in the finals on Saturday evening.

Jackson Shaw ’28 came out blazing, striking quickly with pinpoint shooting to ignite the Bruins’ attack.

While Brunswick jumped ahead early, frequent exclusions forced the Bruins to rely heavily on their man-down defense. With goalkeeper JR Lindberg ’26 anchoring the backline, Brunswick held firm, allowing just one goal on multiple Cardinal power plays. On the other end, Shaw netted the opening two goals before Callum Walker ’26, Peter Saunders ’27, and Nico Zubko ’28 rounded out the first-quarter scoring for a commanding 6-1 lead.

The second quarter brought more of the same intensity. After a big block from Lindberg, Chris Myott ’29 triggered a counterattack that ended with Shaw  drawing and converting a five-meter penalty. The Cardinals continued to fight, but the Bruins maintained their composure and capped the half with a highlight – Shaw burying a half-pool snipe just before the buzzer. Brunswick carried an 11-4 lead into halftime.

From there, the Bruins’ depth took over. Frequent substitutions kept the energy high, and contributions poured in from across the roster. The third quarter closed at 15-7, Brunswick, before Julio Ubina ’27, Myott, Grayson Shaw ’29, and Zubko added insurance goals in the fourth to seal the victory.
