The Bruins earned a berth in the championship of Prep Nationals with a 12-6 win over Salisbury in Friday night's rematch from a week ago. This will be Brunswick's third trip to the finals in the tournament's three-year history.
Hudson Hausmann scored first for the Bruins tonight with a goal 41 seconds into the game. This started a four-goal run for Brunswick as Hausmann and his linemate, Matt Colella, went goal for goal with one another.
Salisbury answered with one of its own to halt the Bruin momentum – 4-1 Brunswick headed into the second quarter.
The Crimson Knights continued their fight by scoring the first two goals of the second quarter and going nearly nine minutes of play before allowing one to Brunswick. A quick answer from Salisbury to the Bruins' lone second-quarter goal sent the teams into halftime with the Bruins ahead 5-4.
Brunswick came out of the break full of energy and put forth a perfect third quarter. There were five goals scored in the third, all courtesy of the Bruins. A strong 12 minutes on the defensive side of the ball stymied any Salisbury attempts at breaking the Brunswick run.
The fourth quarter was bookended by Bruins goals, crushing any hopes that the Crimson Knights had of a late-game comeback.
Brunswick and Lawrenceville will face off in the finals of Prep Nationals on Cosby Field at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
