Bruins Top GCDS in OT, Advance to Saturday's FAA Finals

Brunswick beat GCDS, 72-60, in an overtime thriller on Thursday evening to advance to the school's fifth straight FAA Championship game.

Similar to their matchup from a week ago, the Bruins came out of the gates hot, building an 11-4 lead over the first three minutes of play. But the Tigers quickly settled in and went on a run of their own, and from there, it was a back-and-forth battle.

Coming out of halftime with a 33-26 advantage, Brunswick soon found itself trailing for the first time with 12 minutes to play. The lead changed hands several times in the game's final minutes, and the home team was behind by two points with 30 seconds to play. The Bruins, however, perfectly executed an offensive set to get a clean look at the rim, tying the game and forcing overtime.

The extra four minutes were all Brunswick as the Bruins locked in on defense, forced turnovers, and capitalized on their offensive chances, especially at the free throw line, winning by a score of 72-60.

Brandon Jean led the Bruins with 17 points. Rhaki Lum added 15, Bryan Camacho had 13, and Connor Robinson scored 12.

Brunswick hosts King at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
