Bruins Outlast Suffield on Home Court

Brunswick secured a big Class A win on Wednesday afternoon in Dann Gym, beating Suffield, 72-68.

The Bruins dominated the action in the first half with perhaps their best defensive effort of the season, forcing the Tigers into contested looks and frustrating their playmakers. On the other end of the court, the home team played selflessly on offense – consistently passing up good looks for great ones and capitalizing on the opportunities created.

Entering the second half with a 37-24 advantage, Brunswick extended its lead in the first few minutes after the break, but Suffield came charging back. The visitors chipped away at the deficit, eventually taking their first lead of the half with just over four minutes to play.

The game hung in the balance in the final seconds, before senior captain Rhaki Lum made a tough layup, got fouled, and hit the ensuing free throw to put the Bruins ahead, 70-68. On the game's final possession, Brunswick's defense once again came up big, forcing a turnover and finishing the game out with a fast break layup as time expired.

Brandon Jean led the Bruins with 19 points. Colin Bishop had 18 and Rhaki Lum added 11.

Brunswick hosts Masters on Saturday.
