'Wick Secures Outright Western New England Title

The Bruins hit the road for a highly anticipated match up against Salisbury and left the Hilltop with a 14-8 win on Friday night.

More importantly, they returned home as outright New England West I league champions. This is the program’s second outright championship, the only other one coming in 2017.

It took six and a half minutes for a goal to be scored, and it was scored by the home team. Brunswick answered quickly with three of its own and went into the second quarter up 3-1.

The Bruins played decisively strong second and third quarters – scoring nine and surrendering only three. The offensive run was lead by three goals from Lucas Garcia. Tucker Williams backstopped a strong Bruins defensive front, shutting the door on the Crimson Knights with a number of good saves. Aidan Diaz-Matos turned in another dominant performance at the face-off X as well.

There was some more offense from both teams in the fourth quarter, particularly from Salisbury, but the Bruins remained in control and rode it out with a good team win.

Next up for Brunswick is a trip to Staples on Tuesday for a 5:15 p.m. face-off.
