Varsity Basketball: Stout, Veteran Core Leads the Way

After the '20-'21 COVID-shortened season saw it play just nine contests, the Brunswick basketball team returns to a full FAA and NEPSAC schedule this winter, starting with a jam-packed month of December in which the Bruins will play 10 games in just 18 days.

Leading the way are senior co-captains Tristan Joseph, who is bound for Middlebury College in 2022, and Henry Caponiti, along with juniors Wyatt Triestman and Jon Sigurdsson. Joseph and Triestman will be relied upon heavily, with much of the offense running through them, while Sigurdsson will be the anchor inside on both ends of the floor.

That core looks to build on the success of last year's limited action and is joined by junior Malik Samms and sophomore Matty Augustine, both primed to see increased roles on the court this season.

In addition to the stout veteran leadership, a host of newcomers will no doubt be ready to contribute when called upon.

The regular season kicks off Saturday, December 4, at Taft, and the squad looks forward to back-to-back tournaments at St. Sebastian's and Hackley prior to the end of the calendar year.
