Brunswick brought two wrestlers to this year's National Prep School Wrestling Open in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on May 2-3 — co-captains Nick Bell ’21 and Chris Perry ’21 — and both earned All-American status.
Perry, who reached the semi-final round and lost a 4-0 decision, became Brunswick's first four-time All-American. On his way to the semis, Perry pinned opponents from Western Reserve Academy (Oh.), Bishop Lynch (Tx.), and Germantown Friends (Pa.). The senior ultimately took third place at 138 lb. after two wins in the consolation bracket.
Bell won his Round of 12 match — securing podium status — with a take-down in overtime after losing in the same round a year ago. Bell, who earned his 100th win for Brunswick in the tournament, finished in eighth place at 160 lb. He is the fourth (and last) Bell brother to wrestle for Coach Tim Ostrye.
