2020 - 2021
In 11 seasons of Division I play, Brunswick’s hockey program has solidified itself as one of the most competitive high school programs in New England, securing tournament berths in 2010–2011, 2011–2012, 2014–15, when the team won a school-record 26 games; 2015-16, when the Bruins earned their first-ever berth in the Elite 8 Tournament, featuring the top eight teams in New England; and 2016-17, when Brunswick won its first-ever playoff game at the Division I level and advanced to the semifinals of the Large School Tournament.
In 2017-18, the Bruins won three straight playoff games to capture the NEPSAC Large School Tournament championship, the school's first title at the Division I level.
After missing the playoffs in 2018-2019, Brunswick returned to the Large School Tournament semifinals in 2019-2020, a year that saw the Bruins win 21 games.
At the collegiate level, in the past decade, ’Wick hockey alumni have laced up the skates for Harvard, Boston University, Notre Dame, Michigan, Dartmouth, Yale, North Dakota, Holy Cross, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Colby, Middlebury, Trinity, Williams, Bowdoin, Connecticut College, Amherst, and Hobart — along with a host of other top Division I and Division III programs.
In the past 17 years, four hockey alumni have been selected in the NHL Draft. Hugh Jessiman ’02 was selected in the 1st Round in 2003 and recently retired from playing professional hockey. Kevin Shattenkirk ’07, who spent his freshman and sophomore years at Brunswick before playing for the United States National Team Development Program, was selected in the 1st Round in 2007. The Stanley Cup winner is now a member of the Anaheim Ducks. John Hayden ’13, who followed Shattenkirk’s track, was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 3rd Round of the 2013 draft. He captained Yale University during his senior year in 2017 and is currently playing for the Arizona Coyotes in the NHL. And Phil Kemp '17, who also played for the USNTDP and is now a senior captain at Yale, was drafted in the 7th round of the 2017 draft by the Edmonton Oilers.
Luke Esposito '12, a Brunswick captain and four-year letterman at Harvard, is now a member of the Bakersfield Condors (AHL).
