NEPSAC Names Three Football Players All-New England

Seniors John Fox and Cam Kelly join junior Nick Henkel on the NESPAC’s 2016 All-New England Team. The trio helped the Bruins to a 7-3 record, while leading the program to its fourth-straight New England Bowl game appearance.

Fox, a repeat All-New England pick from 2015, finished this season with 121 tackles (85 solo) in just seven games. The co-captain added 29 tackles-for-loss, 10.5 sacks, and two defensive touchdowns from his outside linebacker position. Fox collected double-digit tackles in each game this season, including a season-best 23 against Taft. The Brunswick captain signed a National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse at the University of Virginia.

Kelly, a two-time All-Erickson League player, had an excellent season as a defensive back and returner. Kelly finished the year leading the team with four interceptions and 11 passes defended, while adding 36 tackles. On special teams, Kelly had several spectacular returns, including a tantalizing 99-yard touchdown scamper in the season opener against Iona Prep. Kelly also returned a blocked field goal for a score against Salisbury. Kelly has yet to make his college choice.

Henkel makes a return trip to the All-New England Team, as the signal-caller earned a spot on the 2015 squad. Henkel reached new heights in his second season at the helm of the Bruins’ offense. The junior quarterback set career-highs in passing yards (2,733), touchdown passes (32), completions (184), and attempts (321). Henkel threw for over 300 yards in six games this season.
