Top 'Tu' Percent: Middle Schooler Shines on National Math Exam
Middle School student Kevin Tu — an 8th grader — earned a score of 126 on the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) 10, placing him in the top two percent of all students nationwide and qualifying him for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).
Tu is the first-ever 8th-grade Brunswick student to qualify for the AIME — a 15-question, three-hour examination — and his AMC 10 score of 126 bests the previous School record of 123, set by Andrew Rogozinski ’17 in 2014.
The top scoring students on the AIME qualify to sit for the United States Junior Math Olympiad.
