Ryan Callaghan ’16, Alex Gibbons ’16, and Andrew Israel ’16 were announced on Wednesday, Sept. 9, as semifinalists in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program — joining 16,000 other students nationwide.
The group of semifinalists, all of whom entered by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
"They are all wonderful young men and dedicated and curious scholars. We are very pleased with their well-deserved recognition," Headmaster Thomas W. Philip said.
“Beyond these results, and far more important, all are accomplished students in the classroom and active members of the Brunswick community at large.”
After all semifinalists submit a scholarship application, which details his or her academic record, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received, approximately 15,000 finalists will be selected in February.
