Bruins Outlast Tigers on Carroll Field

Brunswick hosted Ridgefield High School for a Friday afternoon tilt on Carroll Field, defeating the TIgers by a score of 11-8.

The Bruins jumped on the game from the first whistle today. Goals from a trio of seniors – Payton Anderson, Hudson Hausmann, and Robert Plath – gave Brunswick an early 3-0 first quarter lead. The hosts continued to score, while being matched by Ridgefield, and the first quarter ended 5-3 in favor of Brunswick.

The second quarter followed with just as much scoring from both sides. Brunswick played a streaky brand of lacrosse – scoring in stretches followed each time by a momentum-killing goal from Ridgefield. The teams broke for halftime with the Bruins ahead 9-5.

Quarters three and four were much quieter offensively, with only five total goals. The Tigers gave it their all as they began to claw back and got within two of the Bruins with 1:43 to play in the fourth. Their efforts ultimately fell short as Brunswick added one last short-time goal to end the game and leave Carroll Field with a win.

Brunswick is back in action in under 24 hours as Westminster visits Cosby Field for a 4 p.m. game on Saturday.
