Baseball Team Marches on in FAA

The Brunswick varsity baseball team continued its hot streak in the FAA, beating Greenwich Country Day by the score of 9-1 and improving to 10-2 overall (8-1 in the FAA).

It was a well rounded victory for the Bruins, as they pitched very well, played solid defense, and had a very good day at the plate.

Calder Glassman got the start and pitched three strong innings, as the Tigers' offense was held to a single run.  Teddy Bancroft came on in relief and threw four scoreless innings, ultimately shutting down the GCDS bats.

The Bruins struck first, as they put up one run in the first inning. Wim Nook led off with a double and came around to score from a Michael Yeager single to right center. The Tigers answered right back with a run of their own in the second inning.

From there, however, it was all Bruins. In the third inning, Yeager launched a two run homer to left center putting the score to 3-1. Jayden Montanez, Connor Jones, Nook and Yeager all had RBI singles to make the score 7-1 after four innings.

In the sixth inning, the Bruins tacked on two more insurance runs, as Alex Giannuzzi and Reed Hyde both had RBI singles.

Next up, 'Wick hits the road for a rematch against a talented Hamden Hall team. Yeager will get the start.
