Gibbons Joins 100-Point Club, Bruins Set Two Program Marks
Brunswick stacked up another victory – the team's 13th of the season – against Millbrook on Wednesday afternoon at Hartong Rink by a score of 8-2.
There are a few individual and program highlights to make note of in this recap – rather than the standard game summary.
*Senior co-captain Sean Gibbons recorded six points on a goal and five assists, hitting and surpassing the 100-point mark in his three-year Brunswick career. What an accomplishment for the West Point commitment.
*Senior Brendan Giles netted another hat trick and added one more for four on the afternoon. The red-hot winger now has 21 on the season and is leading the league. (He also had a wrap-around tally and recent alumni know what that means.)
*Senior Casey Quinson scored his first goal since February 2022 after missing all of last year with a back injury. The reaction on the bench said it all for how this team feels about the alternate-captain.
*Junior LJ Bylow saw his first varsity action, entering the game with eight minutes to play and stopping every puck that came his way. The defensive effort certainly picked up when it would have been easy to give up a few chances down the stretch.
*Brunswick extended its unbeaten streak to 15 games, breaking a program record at the Division I NEPSAC level in the team's 15th season. The 2015-2016 Bruins, captained by Jack Stephenson and Nick VanBelle (and led on D by current assistant coach Max Fuld), matched that mark on the way to an Elite 8 appearance.
*This Brunswick edition also broke the Division I program record for consecutive wins with 11, topping last year's Elite 8 semi-final team.
Great to see so many alumni in the house – including the Quinnipiac trio of Cooper Moore, Andon Cerbone, and Matthew McGroarty. The team capitalized on an offensive-zone faceoff (named Bobcat) in their honor.
