Bruins Drop First Contest at Holiday Tournament

Brunswick dropped its first game of the Class A Winter Classic to Dexter Southfield, 67-50, on Friday afternoon.

It was a back and forth first half, where both teams played tough defensively and never really found a rhythm on offense.  After several lead changes, Dexter held a 36-31 advantage at the break.

The second half started with a 7-0 Bruins run with layups from Matty Augustine and Connor Robinson and a three-pointer from Ethan Long. Dexter then went on a run of its own to regain the lead and the two teams played evenly for most of the half.

As has been the case in recent games, Brunswick found themselves in a battle down the stretch, but was unable to get the necessary stops and scores required to in the final minutes, and a desperation full court press and fouls extended Dexter's lead.

Ethan Long led the Bruins with 22 points and Matty Augustine had 14.

Brunswick plays St. Paul's on Saturday afternoon.
