Bruins Battle Exeter to 2-2 Tie

Sixty-five minutes of hockey weren't enough to determine a winner in the finale of the Exeter Invitational, as Brunswick skated to a 2-2 tie with the hosts on Sunday afternoon in New Hampshire.

After the Big Red opened the scoring in the first and took a 1-0 lead to the locker rooms, the Bruins tilted the ice in their favor for the rest of the game, tying things up on a goal in the second by senior D-man Luc Lampert and grabbing the lead with 11:33 to go in the third on a snipe from senior Charlie Vincent. The go-ahead tally came off a set play on an offensive-zone face-off, as senior Jake Minella won it to fellow classmate Carter Hall, who tipped it over to Vincent for a one timer.

A questionable call came just a few minutes later, as senior goaltender Will Baker left his crease to cover a loose puck and was called for delay of game. Exeter took advantage on the ensuing power play to tie the game.

Kudos to the Bruins for getting back to work – even without senior captains Luke Drury and Sean Gibbons, who both had to leave the game with injuries. The Brown and White had plenty of chances down the stretch and in overtime to win it but couldn't bury the GWG.

Shots finished at 41-26 for 'Wick.

At Kent next on Wednesday for a 4:30 tilt.
